LONDON (Reuters) – Global miner Anglo American said on Thursday its first-half copper [production](https://startupobserver.com/panasonic-delays-production-of-new-tesla-battery-to-improve-performance/) surged 42%, underpinned by the ramp-up of its Quellaveco mine operations in Peru.

[Copper](https://startupobserver.com/innovation-in-evs-seen-denting-copper-demand-growth-potential/) production rose to 387,000 metric tons in the first half, from 273,000 metric tons posted in the year-ago period, the [miner](https://startupobserver.com/norway-sovereign-fund-backs-teck-resources-in-battle-with-glencore/) said.
