A start-up pet care app which launched in March this year has reached a milestone 50,000 registered pet owners committed to investing in the health and wellbeing of their dogs whilst earning rewards for doing so.
Biscuit Pet Care, which has secured £3m in seed funding and is part of the Correlation One Holdings portfolio of pet businesses, is an app which has been developed to help pet owners care for the health and wellbeing of their four-legged friends and be rewarded for doing so. Initially focused on supporting dog owners, Biscuit awards points as ‘Biscuits’ for walking dogs plus engaging in other wellbeing elements such as adhering to flea and worm treatments.
The venture was architected by former Animal Friends Insurance senior managers, Justin Dexter and Claire Greenyer who then brought Biscuit to market with a core team of six, and technology development agency Rocketmakers.
Having achieved its first year’s targets in nine months, the venture now enters the scale up phase, and plans to hire and double the team and user base over the next 12 months.
Strategically partnering with Animal Friends Insurance and Joii Pet Care, and bringing more than 30 reward partners on board, Biscuit is the only pet wellbeing app which has partnered with leading national brands.
Dog owners exchange earned Biscuits for rewards including money off shopping vouchers and pet care services. Leading brands to offer rewards in the app include Adidas, John Lewis, Waitrose, and Tesco.
Using a proprietary algorithm to personalise and provide guidance for each dog’s needs based on age and breed, Biscuit advises dog owners on the amount and length of time an owner should walk their dog for and earns Biscuits for achieving the targets.
Additional Biscuits can be earned by completing Wellbeing Badges, such as the Flea and Worm Badge and Microchip Badge. Further badges will be rolled out during 2023 covering the spectrum of dog health and wellbeing.
Co-founder Claire Greenyer said:
“We’re a nation of pet lovers and we know that people want to care for their four-legged friends. With the Biscuit app, they not only have demonstrable evidence of how they are caring for their pet, but they can earn rewards for doing so too.”
Whilst still in its infancy, the company has exceeded its first-year targets in just nine months with over 50,000 users joining the free app and pet owners earning a total £150,000 via Biscuit rewards.
Biscuit Pet Care has further plans to enhance its pet wellbeing programme and incentives.
