Using Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) as an online service provider has rapidly transformed the digital landscape, offering unprecedented opportunities for businesses and freelancers. As A.I. technology continues to evolve, it has become increasingly accessible but equally confusing for service providers to understand and use A.I. in their businesses- way beyond Chat GPT.
Together, we’ll look at the basics of A.I. and how to get started. Plus I’ll share my top 5 online platforms which use A.I. and how you can implement them into your business operations to maximise profitability and create exceptional client experience.
To address the elephant in the room; this article wouldn’t be complete without mentioning content creation prompts and how Chat GPT can help you save time. So let’s start there.
Open AI Chat GPT is pretty incredible. Often as service providers we have to wear so many hats within our businesses, that when it comes to social media content creation, email marketing and sales page copy, we can often stare at a blank computer screen and feel totally lost. Personally, I don’t want Chat GPT to write full content for me, however prompts and ideas to get my creative juices flowing are ever so helpful. If you’re not sure how to get started with A.I. in your business, this is a great place to try first.
Here’s the prompt which I feed into Chat GPT to help me get started:
If I were to write an article about SUBJECT, what are 5 topic ideas? what are 5 related sub topics?
For example, I use one of my content pillars of ‘work/life balance as a female entrepreneur’, I’ll receive back 10 topic ideas to help me write more about the subject. It gets me off the starting blocks and is a huge help when I’m busy and need to switch on my creativity.
Here are my Chat GPT tips:
-
- Define the Problem: Clearly identify the problem you want AI to help solve. eg. automating tasks, improving predictions, or gaining insights from data- what exactly do you want it to help you with in that moment
- Machine Learning: AI involves machine learning, which means the system learns and improves over time. It will take a while to train it to get the results that you want so stick with it
- Robotic Responses: Always review copy as any writing is likely to sound a little ‘off’ to begin with and needs personalisation. Honestly, you can spot copy written by Chat GPT a mile off when you start using it- so never rely on it 100%
My Top 5 AI platforms and tools for Online Service Providers and Freelancers
Scribe
For remote working service providers we spend hours of our lives documenting processing, recording our screen for tutorials because all of our work is done online. Scribe is a gamechanger and one of my favourite A.I. tools as it can very quickly document a process for you. Let’s say for example you’re a website designer showing a client how to update their new website, or you’re an accountant giving instructions on how to sign in to a client portal, you simply hit record and do the steps, click on the buttons on the screen that you would need to do and Scribe notes all of your actions. It then creates a step-by-step process with AI generated instructions and screenshots to show where to click so that the person watching has a process to follow.
Documenting processes is crucial when building a team, to ensure all staff work in a standardised way. You can create a Standard Operating Procedure library for your team to access with step-by-step instructions to complete various tasks for example: setting up a new client on your systems or completing recurring administrative tasks. The magic is that you only have to record it once, it takes seconds and the process can then be completed by anyone.
You can then download the PDF or send the live link to your client or team member.
Meet Geek
Meet Geek is an A.I. assistant which you can invite to your video calls to take notes and send action points to your attendees after the call. This is useful for online service providers like copywriters or coaches where you have initial kick-off calls containing a lot of information and action points to begin working together.
You can review the AI suggestions by clicking on parts of the transcript and share follow up notes easily with teammates using links or you can push them to your business tools like Slack, Trello or Notion. All your calls are securely stored in one place, allowing you to go back in time to find the information you need.
There are many similar platforms these days that use A.I. for recording meetings. Otter.ai is another one of my favourites which also transcribes meeting notes, but for me, Meet Geek has more functionality and use after the meeting.
Bing Create
This tool is a little different as it’s based on images rather than language learning models. You can provide a prompt and the A.I. tool will create images of whatever you want. To try this out, I asked my 3 year old son what his two favourite things are, so we now have a lovely picture of a happy crocodile riding on a rocket in a cartoon style- exactly what he wanted!
For business, this is a secret weapon for your social media graphics.. I was describing an issue which a lot of service providers face which is ‘red-flag’ clients. The ones that are clearly going to be difficult to work with and give you all the warning signs but you ignore them as they flash their cash in front of your eyes. I wanted to illustrate this so I added a prompt to Bing Create et voila! I now have an image of a female entrepreneur running towards me with a bag of cash in one hand whilst waving a red flag in the other.
Rescue Time
Often service providers finish up a day’s work and can’t explain where their time has gone. This is an A.I. time assistant which tracks your browser activity to provide insights into focused work time and rest time depending on the websites you’ve visited. This builds up a data-driven picture of your activity and helps you to identify issues or better times of the day to work.
Once you’ve connected the Rescue Time assistant to your calendar, it can help you focus in time for meetings and give you pop-up prompts to support productivity. This is a really useful tool for service providers as our number one resource is our time, so being aware of our workload and capacity planning is crucial to be as efficient and profitable as possible.
Pin Generator
Are you marketing your products or services on Pinterest? To truly grow on Pinterest it’s recommended to pin 20-30 times per day! Now that’s a lot of content to produce so Pin Generator comes to the rescue. It uses A.I. to generate pins from a URL which you provide. It uses templates and grabs your blog headers, or sales page copy to create pins- and then it goes on to schedule them all from one platform. It’s genius and saves so much time!
Where next?
You may have A.I. built into tech platforms that you already use. Clickup is my task management platform of choice and it has incredible automations as well as A.I. assistance to create documents and tasks. Before you sign up to lots of different platforms and open yourself up to overwhelm, first check what you already have available to you.
The key to harnessing A.I. to your advantage is to begin by:
- automating repetitive tasks
- elevating the level of service you provide to your clients
- increasing efficiency on non-revenue generating tasks to boost your overall profitability
Online service providers- you’ve got this! Get started today and you’ll never look back. A.I. is here to stay so don’t get left behind.
